1. How do I get copies, or examine public records?

If you need public documents, please submit a records request form to the City Clerk’s office. We will respond within 10 days. Public Records Request

2. How and when do I get a Special Events Use permit?

If you are planning a special event to which you will be inviting the public, you will need to complete a special use application 60 to 90 days prior to the event. Contact City Hall at (661) 822-2200 for details.

3. How do I request a copy of the agenda?

Extra copies of the agenda are always available at City Hall. You can also download a copy of the agenda from our website, or sign up to receive notification when new agendas are available for viewing for each council meeting by visiting our Minutes & Agendas page. Minutes & Agendas

4. How would I obtain an audio CD of the Council Meeting?

5. When are passport applications processed?

Passport applications are processed by appointment only Monday - Thursday from 7:00 am until 3:15 pm.

1. What are your hours?

Beginning on September 14, 2009, City Hall is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

2. Where is City Hall located?

We are located at 115 South Robinson Street right next to the Police Department.

3. Where can I pay my water bill?

You can pay your water bill at City Hall Monday through Thursday during office hours. After hours, drop your payment into the night-drop box across from the City Hall front door and it will be processed the following business day.

4. Where is the DMV?

The DMV travel run no longer comes to Tehachapi. The closest DMV office is in Arvin. For more information please call 1-800-777-0133.

5. Who do I call to shut my water off when I need to make repairs?

Please call City Hall at (661) 822-2200 to shut off your water for repairs. Water service start-up or termination forms are available at City Hall.

Dial (661) 822-2222, press ”101” and ask for a supervisor, or come into the Police Department during business hours.

4. What area does the Police Department serve?

We provide service within the Tehachapi City limits. If service is needed outside the City limits, please contact the Kern County Sheriff.

5. How do I contact the Police Department after business hours?

In an emergency, dial “911.” Otherwise, dial (661) 821-3239 to reach Bearvalley P.D. Dispatch.
